Dear Ladies and gentlemen of the European Parliament,
We Call Upon You,
To raise the issue of Armenian prisoners in UN forums, including the Human Rights Council and the Security Council. To support UN-led international monitoring missions in visiting Azerbaijani prisons where Armenian prisoners are held. To condemn Azerbaijan’s human rights violations and ensure accountability measures are enforced. To use your position to facilitate negotiations and secure the immediate release of all prisoners.
We are not asking for mere words or abstract statements. We demand concrete actions and tangible steps. The year 2025 must be a turning point and a destructive year for Aliyev’s infamous regime.
All international legal institutions and organizations, including the OSCE, the EU, the PACE, as well as the UN-affiliated bodies and the International Criminal Court in The Hague, must impose global isolation on war criminal and genocidal leader Ilham Aliyev. They must take all possible and impossible measures to immediately arrest him along with his accomplices.
All Armenian prisoners of war held in Azerbaijani prisons, including the political elite of Artsakh, must be released without delay. The November 9 ceasefire agreement has not been implemented in accordance with international law, as Azerbaijan has consistently refused to fulfill its obligations. Therefore, this agreement must be considered null and void.
If the Azerbaijani dictatorial regime fails to comply with our legitimate and legal demands immediately, Armenia reserves the right to take all necessary measures, including special operations, to liberate Artsakh and reclaim its historic Armenian territories.
Lastly, it must be stated unequivocally that the Armenian prisoners of war and the political leaders of Artsakh held in Azerbaijani prisons are not criminals but devoted patriots who must return home without further delay.
We urge you to act now.
Respectfully,
Arsen Sargsyan President of the Party for Democratic Statehood
